A few days ago, I visted Pojo and decided to see what server their chatroom currently uses. After seeing just how much the server reminded me of the one I used to use, I decided to create a chatroom on the server. This will help re-aquaint me, as well as others who've used IRC before, with the IRC commands. This will introduce most of you to the way IRC (Internet Relay Chat) works. I'm sure this will get you addicted, seeing as it has for me. The server isn't ours, so we must show our respects and follow the server rules. Recruiting is great, but don't do it excessively or constantly private message people asking them to join our forum. We don't want to give DBF a bad reputation. I also ask that no one asks for Oper priveledges for the server. Hopefully, one day we can get our own server and in the meantime, make allies with SurrealChat (the IRC server we are using). Just don't get too attached, for if we don't have a forum, we don't have a family. It would also ruin the chances of getting an IRC server of our own. For those that are new to IRC: 1. Visit this site: http://h1.ripway.com/DBFChat/chat.htm - This is where the chatroom is located. In the textbox, type in the name you wish to use. No spaces are allowed, so use the "_" instead. - Type /nick newnickname Next you must register your nickname 1. Type the following: /msg nickserv register password email - Where it says password, you enter the password you wish to use. Then enter a valid email address, for confirmation will be required. To prevent confusion, I'll use an example. Let's say I want to register the nickname Bob. My password wil be dbfiscool and my email will be bob@dbf.com. I will type the following: /msg nickserv register dbfiscool bob@dbf.com Once complete, you will need to wait for your confirmation email. How to identify when you re-connect Now that your nickname is registered, you will need to prove that it is your nickname when you connect later on. After connecting to the server, type: /msg nickserv identify password You should then have access to your registered nickname. Notice for all DBF staff members You will recieve special privledges in our channel. Once you've fully completed the registration, type the following: /msg memoserv send Vegeta`DBF Hey Big V, it's forum name For example, let's say I'm DZBrick. I will then type the following: /msg memoserv send Vegeta`DBF Hey Big V, it's DZBrick Once I recieve the memo, I'll will make the necessary adjustments. Hope to see you all in the chatrrom! ~Vegeta |
